 A Note from B-3!

Parents,

   Wow!  It was so great to visit with all of you!  No wonder these kids are all so great…they’ve got great parents!!!!!  Thank you again for taking the time to come in and visit with me.  I really do believe that the best learning environment comes from working together as a team and blending home and school! 

Things to note:

·       Remember this week is Kindness Week.  Ask your kiddos what they did that was kind each day…they will amaze you!!  

o   Dress up days:

§  Monday – Pajama Day

§  Tuesday – Crazy Outfit Day

§  Wednesday – Hat Day

§  Thursday – Crazy Hair Day

·       Every track off break, I prepare “Track Off Packets” and extra lists of HFW for those families interested in keeping your kiddo busy during break.  This is completely optional but kids do have an opportunity to earn a pizza lunch (completed packet) and ice cream sundaes (passing the next 3 HFW lists when we return).  Please let me know if you are interested in having a “track off packet” for your child.  If you are, I will send them home during our last week before break.

·       Andelin Pumpkin Patch -- Tuesday, October 30^th!  Please turn in your child’s permission slip and $8.00 ASAP if you haven’t already done so.  Also, if your name was drawn as a chaperone, please make sure that you also pay your $8.00 fee.  Thank you!!!! =)  (Thank you to Ms. Mari, Ms. Koleen, and Ms. Sabrina for joining us!!!  Also, thank you to those who volunteered but did not get drawn out.  We could not do this fun stuff without your willingness to join us!!!)

·       ART/DANCE night is Tuesday, October 30^th.  P.T.O is serving dinner, art auction begins at 5:30 and dance begins at 6:00.  Wear your costumes and boogie down!!!  Dance is over at 7:30.  There will be no homework this night so please join us if you can!!!

·       Our classroom Halloween Party is coming up on Wednesday, October 31^st from 2:00 – 3:20.  Please be aware that this day is NOT an early release Wednesday. Please be aware that there is also no homework on this day either!!  DRESS IN ORANGE for National Kindness/Bully Prevention Month!

·       Our music teacher, Mrs. McKinnon, is now selling SMENCILS!!!  (Delicious smelling pencils!!!!) They are $1.00 each and can be bought before or after school or during music class.  Students can enter through front doors in the morning and then back out the front to walk around the building and can walk through the main hallway after school and then out through the front doors.

 A Note from B-3!

Parents,

   We are beginning to wrap up our month but there is still A TON going on!!  Please read on!!! =)

Things to note:

·       Remember this is conference week.  Early release at 1:10 every day!  Can’t wait to meet and visit with each of you!

·       Kindness week is coming up on Oct. 22 – Oct 25.   

o   Dress up days:

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR WCSD VOLUNTEER FORM IN THE OFFICE ALREADY!! I will be randomly drawing 1-2 parent names to join us on our field trip.  Parents will be notified if they are going with us.

 A Note from B-3!

Parents,

   Another week has come and gone!  Time flies when you are having fun!!

Things to note:

·       This will be the last week of letter practice, handwriting practice, and the letter books!  Yeehaw!!!!  I cannot wait to move on to bigger and better things!!!  I know that kids are always ready to wrap this part of the year up, perhaps parents too?!  This year I will be sending home the remaining 6 letters and the corresponding homework tonight!  IT IS NOT DUE UNTIL FRIDAY!!!  I know that doing this much work could be difficult during the week, so please do it at your convenience, but turn the 6 handwriting pages in to me on Friday.  Your child may get to the handwriting practice homework before we review the letter in class, so please make sure that you help them to notice the arrows next to the letters and help them to make them correctly.  Thanks!  Letter books can also be completed at your leisure.  Please note that math homework will still come home nightly.  GOOD NEWS: NO LETTER HOMEWORK NEXT WEEK!!! =)

·       I heard the turn-out for last week’s BINGO night was amazing.  I wasn’t able to get there myself.  But I will try to get there several times during the coming year!  It really is a lot of fun.  My own children LOVE it!!!  Maybe we will see you at the next one!!

·       SKATE NIGHT IS TONIGHT!!!!

·       Book orders due this Friday! =)

·       Birthday/Playdate Address List will be revised and sent home next week.  Please get your info. in to me if you would like to be included in the updated version.

·       The first High Frequency Word test was today!  Great job everyone!  Keep on practicing those words!!

·       Spelling Lists and spelling tests will begin next week , Monday, Sept. 24^th.  Much more information to come.

·       We had our Run for Education assembly last week for the upcoming run.  Did you get the info.?  Will your child be participating???  =)  Let me know if you need more info.

 A Note from B-3!

Parents,

   Wow!  This weekend seemed to slip by so quickly!  I hope everyone is back ready and rested for another week of fun and hard work too!

Things to note:

·       Book orders went home on Friday.  Think about placing an order!  If you are interested, book orders due back to me or online by September 21, 2012.  Books will be here about beginning of October.

·       Birthday/Playdate Address List came home today.  If you didn’t send in your address/phone number and still want to…please do!!!  If you find an error, please let me know.  Also, please put this on your fridge or another place that can be easily accessed.  When/if I get updated information, I will be sending home a revised copy to you, and so you will want to toss the old copy when you get the new one.  Remember to use this to send party invitations or to create playdates amongst our first grade friends!

·       Still working on classroom volunteer info.  I will be in touch. =)

·       Keep studying the high frequency lists that went home a few weeks ago.  Hopefully, most of those words are review from Kindergarten.  Our first H.F.W. test will be next Monday, Sept. 17, 2012.  (And almost every Monday after that!!) Thank you to Andrea (Kamryn’s mommy) for helping to be my HFW mom!  This job is so important to me and to the reading that we will be doing in here.  If your child passes the list on this day, they will receive a new list to study and practice for the next test.  If your child does not, no worries.  They will be able to study and practice this list until they do.  Just a reminder that turning these words into flashcards (on index cards or similar) at home could be a fabulous way to practice (they can continue to read all the words that they accrue during the year, paying special attention to the 25 they are trying to pass).   If you have questions, please let me know!

 A Note from B-3!

Parents,

   I hope you all had a wonderful weekend with your incredible kiddos!!  My own weekend was FULL of soccer!!  Busy, busy, busy! 

Things to note:

·       Remember, “Back to School Night” is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 21^st at 6:00.  Please plan to come!  It is usually easier for parents, if children do not come as they are sometimes a distraction for parents.  I understand completely, however, if you do not have child care this evening.  Please know that I will be going over our classroom routines and expectations in more detail!  I’ll meet ya in the multi-purpose room! =)

·       If you have already sent in your child’s class supplies and class fee – THANK YOU!  If you haven’t, please try to do so.  Also, if you need another supply list, please let me know and I will slip one into your child’s folder.  If this is something that is not financially possible for your family right now, I totally understand! Please just jot me a note, so I know.  Thank you so much!  I will be sending friendly reminders out soon to those who have not sent in supplies.  Thank you for understanding the importance of these supplies and our $20.00 class fee. 

·       The first high frequency word list is coming home today!  Please read and begin reviewing (IF NECESSARY!?) these words with your child.  I am doing the same in the classroom and look forward to moving on to bigger and better things!

·       Tie-Dye information came home last week.  We will be tie-dying on Tuesday, August 28^th at 10:15 a.m.  If you are planning on having your child tie-dye, please send $$$ and/or items to be tie-dyed in ASAP. 

o   Could be messy!!  Please do not send children in their best clothing on this day.

o   If you have some, please send in newspapers prior to 8/28.  To be used during the tie-dye process.

o   Any parents willing to come and help during tie-dye?  Let me know…I will take any extra hands I can this day!!!!

o   Is there a parent willing to do our tie-dye laundry after the event????  It is easy and comes with clear and simple directions…Let me know!

·       Fundraising information went home last week.  Remember, if you are fundraising, the packet is due back before or on August 29^th.  Thank you!

·       Crazy Hat Day on Friday, August 31^st has been changed to ACES Day!  If you can, please also donate $1.00 this day to our P.T.O.

] Principal’s Lunch [

I am currently looking for two *respectful* kids to earn Principal’s Lunch on August 29^th with Ms. Walters and Mrs. Austill!  Can’t wait to announce my decision! 

*This is quite a special reward earned every month at our school for children displaying our Otter Be’s: Be respectful, Be responsible, Be Safe, Be Kind.  Children who are chosen will receive a pizza lunch, drink, treat, and some other goodies.  Please know that not all children will receive this particular reward this year, but that I and all other members of our school staff try to find other ways that ALL CHILDREN CAN BE REWARDED!  We believe that all children are special and deserving of rewards that demonstrate their own unique strengths!!  Thank you in advance for understanding.
